Stonehouse / Glasshouse, in collaboration with Hayman Design, is delighted to announce the book launch for the 2017 Stonehouse / Glasshouse Residency catalogue. This first publication from Stonehouse / Glasshouse celebrates the work of its first resident, Adam Lee, and his recent exhibition Monolith.
After travelling with his family to Stonehouse in Chenaud, France for six weeks between July and August 2017, Lee’s subsequent body of work was shown at Gertrude Glasshouse in January 2018. Monolith draws upon Lee’s experience of remoteness within the rural landscape of Southern France; mining aspects of local folklore and religious narratives, the works in the show are interwoven with fragments of the personal and autobiographic. The catalogue will include an essay by Dr Kent Wilson, Senior Curator at the La Trobe Art Institute, written for the January show.
To coincide with the book launch, an exhibition of Adam Lee’s works from the collection of Michael Schwartz and David Clouston will be on display upstairs at Gertrude Glasshouse.
