Gertrude is pleased to invite you to the opening celebration and public programs for the upcoming exhibition The drunkard's cloak by Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn presented at Gertrude Glasshouse. Join us for the exhibition opening on Thursday 2 February from 6-8pm.

The drunkard’s cloak is the culminating exhibition of Bell, de Kuijer and McGlinn's residency in Chenaud, France in July of 2022 as part of the Glasshouse/Stonehouse program. The group would like to acknowledge the support of Antje, Andrew, Michael and David for creating a space and the opportunity for Australian and New Zealand artists to create new work.

Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn are Australian born artists that have been working in collaboration since 2008, previously under the name Greatest Hits.

They have exhibited Nationally at: Neon Parc, West Space, Station Gallery, Gertrude Contemporary, Gertrude Glasshouse, Tristan Koenig, Sydney Contemporary, National Gallery of Victoria, Monash University Museum of Art, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and Centre of Contemporary Photography, as well as internationally at: La Casa Encendida, Madrid (ES); TRIPLA, Bologna (IT); Adds Donna, Chicago (US); ACL partners, Paris (FR); MES 56, Yogyakarta (ID); XYZ Collective, Tokyo (JP); Wellington City Gallery, Wellington (NZ); Te Tuhi Center, Auckland (NZ) and Brennan and Griffin, New York (US).

The collaboration participated in the Gertrude Studio Program from 2017-2019.

In celebration of the Glasshouse/Stonehouse residency program, generously supported by Michael Schwarz, David Clouston and Antje and Andrew Géczy, Gertrude and Res Artis will jointly present a panel discussion on Saturday 4 February from 3pm. Following the discussion, Res Artis will be launching the publication The Cook and Her Driver by 2019 Glasshouse/Stonehouse alumni Karen Black and Virginia Leonard, accompanied by a select presentation of works by the artists.
